Ardtona Christmas Newsletter

The school term is nearly over and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and encouragement. All of the children have worked very hard this term and we continue to see great progress being made.

Congratulation to Jack McCabe 1st Class, who came second in the Independent Junior Schools writing competition. Congratulations also to Ailey Zhurkin, Senior Infants, who came first in the AIJS poetry competition and Will Gallagher, also Senior Infants, who came second.

We would like to thank all those who filled boxes for the Team Hope shoe box charity.  John Buckley, Leon Sheridan, Cillian Power and Liam Doyle helped to deliver the eighty-two boxes safely to the depot.

Our Christmas Jumper Day in aid of the LauraLynn children’s hospice was also a great success. We raised a total of €400. Thank you all for your generous contributions.

We are also holding a raffle for a teddy bear, in aid of Barnardos. Tickets are available in the hall for €2 and the draw will be held on Friday 21st. We believe that these charities are very appropriate for young children to become involved in and feel that our children benefit enormously from their participation.

The school is currently alive with the sounds of tubby snowmen, braying donkeys and children singing, as all of the classes perform their school plays. It has been a busy time, but we have all enjoyed the preparations and hope that you, as parents enjoy the performances.  We look forward to getting all the children together on Friday morning, 21st December, for a carol service. To ensure that we are all feeling festive on the day, we would love to see the children wearing their Christmas jumpers again. Thank you!
